When manual installation may help
- The device does not include or cannot access Google Play.
- A dedicated child device is intentionally not signed into a Google account.
- The Play listing is temporarily unavailable for your account, region, device or staged rollout.
- The APK needs to be transferred from another computer for installation on an offline device.
Manual installation does not bypass GlowPebbles' Android 5.1 minimum or other device compatibility requirements.

How to install
- Download the APK on the Android device, or transfer it from a trusted computer.
- Open the APK from the browser, Downloads or Files app.
- Android 5.1-7.1: if installation is blocked, temporarily enable Unknown sources in Android's Security settings.
- Android 8 and newer: if installation is blocked, allow Install unknown apps for the browser or Files app opening the APK.
- Return to the APK and choose Install.
- After installation, disable Unknown sources or revoke that app's Install unknown apps permission again.
- Open GlowPebbles and review Android's screen-pinning prompt.
Android's exact wording and menu locations vary by device.
Switching between website and Play editions
The website APK and Google Play edition are the same app but appear different to Android, so you can't update one edition with the other.
To change installation channel, first uninstall the existing edition. Uninstalling removes its local settings, drawings and statistics. You can then install the other edition.
